Wild-Horses

Wild, Wild horses ♫  …
When the horse is tamed, it has the power and energy to be helpful and serve its master.  When it is not under any influence but its own instinct, it can be dangerous.  Think of stampeding horses, trampling the earth — does your mind ever feel like that, running wild?

Just like our minds and mental energy! Harnessed or under guidance, the mind is very powerful.

What kind of guidance is most helpful to the mind?   Above all cultivate your compassion, train your mind in a friendly and caring way.

The metaphor has been used in describing the mind for centuries because it is quite appropriate.  This short video continues the analogy in a totally engaging way:
Pack Leader      It is a really amazing video of warm-hearted, yet very clear discipline.

That firm, persistent yet warm leadership illustrates how we need to build our meditation and relationship with our mind.

The process of meditation is a “practice” because it is a continuing effort, as long as we draw breath.  There is always another corner to turn in the adventure of living in a human form, and ways to continue unfolding and transforming.  I find that a truly joyful prospect!

” Your mind is your instrument. Learn to be its master and not its slave.”

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

“The problem with introspection is that it has no end.”
― Philip K. Dick
