I have dealt with insomnia myself, on and off, for a few years. I have a much better handle on it now, and I have a huge bag of tricks to share.
[See this site for dozens of links to sleep resources.]
For now I will share this one: It is tasty and soothing. Traditional Ayurvedic practices would indicate for you to use organic whole dairy milk. Use what you would like (almond milk, rice milk, hemp milk . . . ) If you do not have all the ingredients, use what you have.
Warm a cup of milk on a low flame, to which you have added:
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp cardamom
- Few threads of saffron
- 1tsp-1 Tbsp ghee or coconut oil
- 1-tsp – 1 Tbsp honey, maple syrup or raw sugar
(Ayurvedic recipes state to use more ghee or more honey, but not equal amounts)
- Optional: 1 tsp – 1 Tbsp turmeric
( A great way to get the turmeric into your tissues if you are dealing with inflammation)
The milk should just start to foam up.
Make it once this way and then adjust the spices to your preferences. Please let me know how you like it.
I wish you very Sweet Dreams
