Do you have tension or pain in your upper back, neck or shoulders?
Do you work on a computer? Do you drive a car? Any chiropractor, massage therapist or orthopedic doctor will tell you that we are ALL vulnerable to “upper crossed syndrome,” or “forward head syndrome.”
It is my intentention to offer you a guided experience to create EASE and STRENGTH for your upper back, neck and shoulders.
How & why it happens
The natural result of focusing our eyes and hands constantly forward is the gradual rounding in the upper back as the head follows the eyes and hands further and further forward. The posture increasingly collapses the chest over the abdomen. The strain and tension of the physical misalignment eventually leads to strained muscles and pain. Not to mention the problems in the internal organs, all squished and compressed. The imbalanced and overworked muscles try to compensate for the deterioration of correct alignment– it becomes a vicious negative spiral.
How we can correct it
I strongly encourage you to take a sampling of these practices home and keep up your “muscle hygiene.” Regular movement will keep your range of motion all it can be, so your upper body, neck, shoulders and arms can feel great and serve you well!
There will be postures on the floor and yoga through the full spectrum of movements and alignments. Bring your mat if you have one.
